A very varied tour will lead you through the Upper Idrijca Landscape Park past the rich natural and technical heritage connected with the 500-year history of mining in Idrija. Already at the beginning of the Strug Gorge, the Divje jezero lake invites you, and just a few hundred meters further on you can see the Strug Tectonic Window, where the rocks do not follow each other in geological time sequence. 

The Magical Idrijske Krnice trail, after the initial ascent through the sprawling Kanomljica valley, leads you to Oblakov vrh, where you will observe the valley that was formed along the Idrija tectonic fault, and then a steep slope to Idrijske Krnice and Lokvarski vrh awaits you. You will continue your journey along the plateau, where minor elevations will not cause major problems. 

The route to the Črni Vrh Plateau will initially lead you steeply uphill to the little-known but very picturesque and scenic plateaus and hamlets of the Idrija midlands, as you will cycle through Dole and Gore. In front of Godovič, you will learn how dinosaur footprints came to the Idrija region, and on the Črni Vrh Plateau, you will stop at the local cheese maker and refresh yourself with his delicacies on the way through the picturesque landscape. 

Kanomlja is a long and deep valley, nestled between the sunny, farm-strewn slopes of the Krnice ridge and the steep axial slopes of the Vojsko Plateau. At the end of Kanomlja – at Oblakov vrh, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Hotenja valley on the mountain pass and back down the Kanomljica valley on the other side.

The Krnice Plateau, located at about 1,000 m above sea level, fascinates with its pristine nature and the rich offer of local farms.

On a bike (or you can also walk) on the Ledine Plateau, you can breathe in the rural nature, picturesque villages, listen to the narrative of the Rapallo Border and feel the communicative power of the heritage of ancient homesteads. During hot summer days, you can find shade under one of the mighty linden trees, look around the Idrija and Spodnja Idrija basins, and try local specialties that the locals sure know how to prepare.

Vrsnik is a "sunny island" that is only connected to the rest of the Ledine region by a narrow ridge. Its entire edge descends steeply into the Osojnica, Poljanska Sora and Žirovnica ravines. Today the border island between the Idrija and Cerkno hills, that once belonged to the Žiri parish.

In the middle of the rolling landscape stands the old hilly village of Zavratec. A farming settlement where many of the sturdy houses are decorated with artfully carved portals.

The Matuckar trail is an easy circular cycling route, suitable for a family trip. It is 12 kilometres long and runs along the entire Zadlog plain, past homesteads, pastures and other attractions. It represents a wonderful trip to nature, away from the crazy world, where you can breathe fresh air and exercise your body and mind.

The route, which you can start with the Karst Forest Educational Trail, takes you across the area of High Karst, where you can see karst fields with swallow holes and swallets, depressions and sinkholes, and the deepest abyss of this region. At the confluence of Belca and Idrijca, in the Upper Idrijca Landscape Park, there is a beautifully landscaped Lajšt natural bathing area. Here you can relax in a pleasant environment and surrender to the richness of the pristine nature of the landscape park and its natural peculiarities.

We recommend the fun educational interpretation point of Geopark Idrija "Gravel Pit is a Playground". It is equipped with well-known board games, such as Ludo, volkalca, tančula, etc. You will find the figurines and pebbles you need for the games right in the gravel pit.
